Boat Making Clicking Noise

Re: boat won't start. what exactly is that clicking? if all connections look good give the body of the starter a good rap with a hammer and then turn the key.. The clicking sound is probably your solenoid trying to work. your battery has just enough electricity to make the solenoid operate but not enough electricity to make the start … er work. you probably have an almost dead battery.. The noise you hear is the horn relay clicking. the reason your horn does not work can be two things. either you have a faulty horn, or you have a bad connection where the wire hooks to the horn..

The clicking sound is the solenoid -- it's supposed to make that sound you just don't usually hear it because of the starter motor. using a known-good fully charged battery, measure the voltage at the solenoid output terminal (the post with a heavy cable leading to the starter motor), with the key turned to "start".. The clicking is likely either the starter relay or the starter. this happens when the battery is low. make sure your connections are nice and clean and tight and the battery is all charged up.. We thought the bearings were going out on this wheel. found out we were wrong. noise was from something else. this is a video of demolition derby..
